Natore district Awami League (AL) President, Member of Parliament (MP) from Natore-4 (Gurudaspur-Baraigram) constituency and valiant freedom fighter Professor Abdul Quddus was laid to eternal rest with state honors this afternoon.
He was laid to rest at the Bilsa graveyard in Gurudaspur upazila of the district around 2.30pm. He breathed his last at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Dhaka around 7:30am on Wednesday.
The 2nd namaz-e-janaza was held at Baraigram Pilot High School ground in Natore around 11 am today.
The freedom fighter was given a guard of honour under the leadership of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Maryam Khatun.
Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Shamsul Haque Tuku, Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor and Bangladesh Awami League Presidium Member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Bangladesh Awami League Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, Members of Parliament Shafiqul Islam Shimul and Shahidul Islam Bakul, Acting President of Natore District Awami League Advocate Sirajul Islam and General Secretary Shariful Islam Ramzan, among others, participated in the Janaza funeral prayer along with a large number of Muslims.
His 3rd and 4th namaz-e-janazas were held at Gurudaspur Pilot High School ground around 12.10pm and Bilsa Eidgah ground after Zohr today.
Quddus, also the president of Natore district unit of AL, was elected MP of Natore-4 constituency five times.
