USA: Idalia made landfall at 7:45 a.m. Eastern time as a high-end Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph in Florida’s Big Bend, the National Hurricane Center wrote. It is tied with the Cedar Key hurricane of 1896 as the strongest to hit the region.
It crossed the coast near Keaton Beach, which is about 60 miles southeast of Tallahassee.
