Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud  expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of AL lawmaker of Natore-4 constituency Abdul Quddus.

In a message of condolence, the minister said, "Quddus was a close associate of Bangabandhu".

He was elected lawmaker for five times and he was a state minister of fisheries and livestock ministry during 1996-2001 AL tenure, he added.

Hasan, who is now visiting London to attend Parliamentary Security Intelligence Forum, prayed of eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Abdul Quddus died at a hospital in Dhaka today. He was 77.

Quddus, President of Natore district unit of AL, had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of United Hospital where he breathed his last at 7:22am.
