Bangladesh Army Football Team kept their hope alive for the quarterfinals of the ongoing 132nd Durand Cup after playing a goalless draw against Punjab Football Club in their last match of the four-team Group A at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday night.
Top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. Bangladesh Army are currently at the second place of their group with 2 points from three matches.
But they have to wait for the last two matches of this group between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, East Bengal and Punjab.
The Mohun Bagan-East Bengal match will be held on Saturday while the East Bengal-Punjab match will be held on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi side earlier made a disappointing start in this prestigious and oldest football meet in Asia as they conceded a 0-5 goals defeat to Mohun Bagan in the first group match.
But they made a good comeback after playing a 2-2 draw with East Bengal in the second group match.
