ED confiscates ill-gotten properties of PK Halder, his brother in West Bengal

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) – India's central financial investigation agency – has raided the houses of Prashanta Kumar Halder alias PK Halder, who fled Bangladesh after embezzling more than Tk10,000 crore from financial institutions, and his brother Pranesh Halder in West Bengal and seized assets worth Tk 12 crore on Thursday.
During the searches, ED officials were accompanied with PK Halder and his brothe. ED raided various places in Ashoknagar, Fortuna Height, Boidik Village and seized the properties.
Besides, the ED sealed their gardens, houses, cattle firms in two areas of Dakshin Palli and Adarsh Palli of Ashoknagar.
For now, the places will be under the custody of ED. Both the places are in the name of PK Halder's brother Pranesh Kumar Halder.
Five years ago, Pranesh went to Kalna in Bardhaman, giving the responsibility of taking care of this place and house to a trusted person.
The notice signed by ED Assistant Director Neeraj Kumar Singh (Kolkata Regional Office - 2) said that no one can buy, sell, mortgage or donate the house and land until further instructions.
ED arrested PK Halder, his brother Pranesh Halder, Swapan Mistry alias Swapan Maitra, Uttam Mistry alias Uttam Maitra, Imam Hossain alias Imon Halder and Amana Sultana alias Sharmi Halder on charge of money laundering and other crimes on May 14, 2022.
Currently, five male accused, including PK Haldar, are in Presidency Jail while only female accused is in Alipore Central Jail.
