Ruling Awami League on Sunday said they would remain in the field till the next general elections to prevent devious political strategies of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The leaders and activists came up with the remarks while bringing out processions across the country protesting the BNP’s violent activities.
Addressing separate programmes, the leaders said that BNP-Jamaat again started unleashing violent activities to create an anarchic situation in the country like 2013-14.
Jatrabari Thana unit of AL staged demonstration at Shaheed Sheikh Russel Park adjacent to Jatrabari intersection in the afternoon.
AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) joined the programme as the chief guest.
He said whenever AL stays in power, the country witnesses development and progress and its people stay well.
Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, General Secretary Humayun Kabir and Jatrabari Thana AL former general secretary Harun-or-Rashid, among others, spoke on the occasion with Jatrabari Thana AL former President Kazi Manirul Islam Manu in the chair.
Dhaka City North unit of Awami Jubo League staged a peace rally on the premises of Mohakhali kitchen market.
Awami Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil spoke on the occasion, among others.
City North Jubo League acting President Zakir Hossain Babul chaired the rally which was moderated by its General Secretary Md Ismail Hossain.
BNP’s terrorist and anarchic activities should be resisted on streets, they said urging all leaders and activists of the ruling camp to stay alert on streets.
AL joint general secretary Mahbul-ul Alam Hanif said they would control all the evil activities of the BNP with iron fist.
“The government will control all the evil activities of the BNP with iron fist like it has done in the past to protect the lives and property of the people,” he said while addressing a programme in Kushtia.
Addressing a rally on the Dhaka University campus, Bangladesh Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain said they would remain on the street to face the BNP-Jamaat clique.
“Despite hatching conspiracies at home and abroad, we will remain in the field until driving away the BNP from the place,” he said.
Krishak League’s Dhaka City South unit also staged a demonstration protesting BNP-Jamaat's terrorist acts and anarchy in front of AL central office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue.
After the rally, a protest procession was brought out which paraded different city streets, including Gulistan, Noor Hossain Square and Secretariat area and returned to Bangabandhu Avenue.
AL different units also brought out processions in Mirpur, Mohammadpur and other parts of the capital.
