Pregnant woman dies of dengue in Faridpur

A pregnant woman died of dengue fever during treatment at a hospital in Faridpur on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ruma Biswas, 26, wife of Liton Ghosh at Parulia village of Jungle union in Rajbari’s Baliakandi upazila.

She breathed her last at Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College and Hospital at 7:30pm.

Rajbari Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Titon confirmed the news.

Ruma's husband Liton Ghosh said, “Ruma, who was 9 months pregnant, diagnosed with dengue at Rajbari health clinic last Sunday. In the afternoon, he was admitted to Rajbari Sadar Hospital. Later, she was taken to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College and Hospital when her condition deteriorated on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, SM Nazia Sultana, senior assistant secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, died of dengue.

Another pregnant woman Kanta Biswas, Assistant Director of Public Accounts Department of Bangladesh Bank, died of dengue recently.
