Tarique Rahman among 32 indicted in Gazipur sabotage case

BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, who is now living in London, has been charged in a sabotage case filed with Joydebpur Police station in Gazpur in 21st January of this year.


Police on Tuesday submitted charge sheets against Tarique Rahman and 31 others, Gazipur superintendent of police Harun-Ur-Rashid disclosed this in a press briefing on Tuesday at his office in the city.


The charge-sheets have been submitted to Gazipur District and Sessions Judge’s Court on Tuesday noon, Harun-Ur-Rashid said.


Dilip Chandra Sarker, sub-inspector of Joydebpur police station, filed the case over an arson attack on a bus at Tarique Zia Intersection in Gazipur on January 21 during the hartal enforced by 20-party alliance.


Police in investigation found that Tarique Rahman, who is now in London, ordered the sabotage activities and his personal assistant Lutfar Rahman Badal, BNP leader Manzurul Ahsan Rony and others performed the attack.


Police so far arrested 11 persons in connection with the case.
