Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam insists that their pace bowling attack is like a family and all of them are always ready to perform well upon their getting opportunities.

After disappointing performances in the opening two games, Bangladesh pacers came back strongly in their face-saving contest as they took six wickets to help the hosts bowl Afghanistan all out for 126 runs in 45.2 overs.

Left-arm pacer Shorful was the star of the show as he claimed a career-best 4-21 while Taskin Ahmed also took 2-23 in 8.2 overs which set up the game for the Tigers as they went on to win the contest by seven wickets to finish the series on a high note.

“We, the pacers, are like a family. Our coach has trust in everyone. He is rotating the pacers so that everyone is ready when he is given a chance,” Shoriful told reporters in a press conference after the match in Chattogram on Tuesday.

“I have trained a lot. Hathu sir has worked especially with me. I have seen a lot of drill videos when I was at home. I tried those in the training sessions and today I wanted to bowl in the same way.

“Today I bowled the first two to three balls in the front and didn’t get any result. Taskin bhai then told me to bowl back of length. There was a chance of up and down. Then we changed our plan,” he added.

Shoriful was however happier with the result they got from the game as they earlier lost the opening two games to suffer their maiden ODI series defeat to Afghanistan.

“There is always win and loss in sports. We had bad games in the first two matches. The kind of team we are, we tried to make a comeback in the game,” Shoriful said.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott lamented for not getting partnerships in the middle which forced them to finish with their lowest ODI total against Bangladesh.

“We kept losing wickets. We never had a partnership. You need that big partnership when rebuilding your innings from 15 or 20 for four,” Trott said after the match.

“You need to bat for 15-20 overs to eat out those overs. Score the majority of the runs and leave it to the tail,” he added.
