Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) Mohammad Fazle Rabbi Mia today said the Prime Minister's vision-2021 for transforming Bangladesh into a middle income country by the year 2021 is an alternative vision to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's dream for building a golden country.

The Deputy Speaker said this while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on "Actual Accounts and Management of Viable Expenditure and Culture of Purity" organised by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts at the Swearing-in Room of

the Jatiya Sangsad Building in the city, BSS reports.

Senior secretaries, secretaries and chief accounts officers of different ministries attended the workshop.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir was the main speaker at the workshop in which Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Masud Ahmed presented the keynote paper on the topic.

Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Md Abdus Shaheed, Rebeka Momin, Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, AKM Maidul Islam and Md Rustam Ali Farazi were the discussants.

Terming that holding of such a workshop with the chief accounts officers of different ministries as a historic and rare instance, the Deputy Speaker said, "Bangladesh could be

transformed into a middle income state before 2021 by bringing transparency in public accounts ensuring accountability with the application of merit, competence and conscious-thinking of the experienced officers of the ministry and fruitful talks with the

members of the standing committee concerned in this regard."
