Peninsula observes “World Environment Day”

CHATTOGRAM: The Peninsula Chittagong, a four-star hotel in the city, observed the ‘World Environment Day” with different programmes on Monday.

The authority held a "Tree Plantation Campaign’’ at Mirsharai upazila to create awareness among the people.

They also decorated the hotel premises with a theme to encourage people to reduce use of plastic for an end to environmental pollution. 

The authority also organised a seminar marking the day at Mirsharai Upazila Auditorium. 

The hotel Chairman Mahboob Ur Rahman inaugurated the daylong events as the chief guest.

Mirsarai Upazila Chairman Jashim Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahfuza Zerin and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mizanur Rahman, the hotel General Manager Sumedha Gunawardana and department heads also attended the seminar. 

Addressing the programme, Chairman Mahboob said the Peninsula has always played a vital role in contributing to the progress of the tourism industry in Bangladesh as well as carrying out social values and responsibilities. 

He also promised that they will continue such events in the coming days for betterment of the environment. 

Later, they took part in the tree plantation campaign when some two thousand saplings were planted.
