Taposh emphasizes social awareness to prevent Dengue

Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh paid emphasis on social awareness to  eradicate Dengue.

"Applying pesticides is not enough to prevent dengue...Social awareness should be raised," he said.

He said this at a name plaque unveiling programme of Sanghanayak Suddhananda Road adjacent to Bashabo Buddhist Temple in the capital, said a press release.

Later, the Mayor took part at that anti-dengue campaign by distributing leaflets among the people of the area.

"We have undertaken mass awareness on anti-dengue leaflet distribution programme to control the outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease in the upcoming Monsoon season," he said.

Taposh requested the city dwellers to clean their houses and not let allow any stagnant water where Aedes mosquito can breed and spread Dengue disease.

"Both the city corporations have pesticide committees to conduct mosquito control activities. There are experts from different levels in the committees. The city corporations imported and stored pesticides for the
entire year based on those expert's recommendations," he said.

With the support from DG health, the special combing operation that DNCC has started will continue till Thursday.
