Throughout his teaching career, Mohammad Mozammel Haque Akhanda always spent time on the school campus wearing a tough personality to teach and control his students. But finally like a green coconut the veteran teacher was caught with his soft heart in the same campus.
Like him, three other outgoing teachers Mohammad Abul Bashar Mia, Mohammad Shahjahan Mia and KM Belayet Hossain of Abdul Goni High School at Zajira in Shariatpur couldn’t control their emotion and burst into tears while delivering their speeches at an award giving ceremony on Friday.
The teachers were awarded in a befitting manner on the educational institution’s premises. With them, four more teachers, who died a few years back, were also awarded posthumously.

The teachers awarded posthumously were Shamsuddin Ahmed, Moulvi Ali Akbar, Abdul Majid Mia and Piyara Akhter.
The ex-students of the school under the banner of ‘Prakton Chhatra-Chhatri Parishad’ (Former Students’ Council) arranged the ceremony where incumbent students, teachers, managing committee members and other local dignitaries participated.
During the function, some former students shared their memories with the teachers in and outside classrooms and said how their advices helped them reach their goals.
They expressed gratitude to their mentors and wished them a happy, healthy and long post retirement life.
