A teenage girl was hacked to death by a miscreant in Netrokona's Barhatta upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Mukti Barmon, 16, daughter of Nikhil Barmaon, resident of Chalipura village of the upazila. She was class X student of Premnagar-Chaliur High School.

Locals said that Kawsar Mia, 19, son of Samsu Mia of the same village, waylaid Mukti when she was returning home from school at around 2:00pm and hacked indiscriminately.

Later, she was taken to Netrokona Adhunik hospital where doctor declared her dead on arrival.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barhatta police station Khokon Kumar Saha said that he visited the spot and legal action will be taken after receiving written complaint.
