The grateful Bengali nation shall be in debt to the Freedom Fighters (FFs), the best sons and daughters of the soil and duly honour them to uphold spirit of the War of Liberation forever.

Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Road Transport & Bridges Nazmul Hoque Prodhan said this at a ceremony at Bandivita Government Primary School in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh on Tuesday afternoon as chief guest, BSS reports.

Tentulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Mohammad Belayet Hossain presided over the ceremony arranged there for distribution of houses among seven insolvent FFs of Tentulia upazila.

Prodhan, also a valiant FF, distributed houses among the seven insolvent FFs to end the house distribution programme of the government among 23 FFs of all five upazilas in Panchagarh under the first phase.

Earlier, he unveiled plaque of the new house built for insolvent FF Nurul Haque in Bandivita village.

Upazila Muktijoddha Commander Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, Upazila Awami League President Yasin Ali Mandal, President of district JSD Abdul Mazid Babul, its General Secretary Abdus Sattar and Executive Engineer of LGED Subash Kumar Saha spoke.

Valiant FFs, leaders of Upazila Muktijoddha Sangshad and different political parties, officials, civil society members, public representatives, professionals and elite attended the ceremony.

Getting a cost-free house, insolvent FF Nurul Haque said he did not take part in the War of Liberation for getting a house, but he fought the war only to achieve a flag, independence and a country.

"I express my deep gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for providing me with a pucca house," he said and thanked the Prime Minister for taking massive initiatives to ensure welfare of the FFs and their family members.

The chief guest termed the FFs as the best sons and daughters of the soil for all the time and said they never thought of getting something in return while fighting against the well-trained Pakistani occupation forces to liberate the country.

"The present government has taken massive programmes like increasing allowances, constructing Muktijoddha Complexes at district and upazila levels and residential houses for the financially insolvent FFs to ensure their welfare," he said.

He called upon the FFs for working unitedly in strengthening hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a non-communal, developed and modern Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
