The Bashundhara Sports Complex authority has been working tirelessly to complete the installation process of the floodlights by the mid of April to host the second phase of Bangladesh Premier League matches under it.

The authority started the installation process by placing the root pillar of the first floodlights tower earlier this month. It has already set up all four towers and will start installing lights today.

“We have already set up towers surrounding the pitch; now will start to install the lights from tomorrow (Sunday),” Bashundhara Group’s Electrical Division Chief Engineer (Sector B) Laxman Kumar Dey told The Daily Sun on Saturday.

The sports complex authority is installing category A and HD quality floodlights at the venue. There will be a total of 280 lights at these four towers and each of these lights has a capacity of 1.2 kilowatts. The floodlights are able to produce 1200 kilowatts or 2500 lux.

Both Bashundhara Kings and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd use this ground as their home venue.

The ground will host a total of 10 matches of the BPL second phase – five home matches of Kings and the same number of matches of Sheikh Russel.

The second phase will start on April 7.
