The arrestees were also indicted in a case under Anti-Terrorism Act as per the rules.

The IGP responded to a query after emerging from the inception and briefing meeting on countering violent extremism and terrorism through strengthening of community and beat policing in a capital hotel on Saturday.

In response to another question if anybody could be arrested without arrest warrant against him or her, he posed a counter question, “Cannot anybody be arrested without warrant?”

At about 1:00am on March 20, police arrested 53 leaders and activists of the BNP from a restaurant at Banani, bringing allegation that they were holding a meeting to do the anti-state plans.

On the progress of arrest of Arav Khan, who was wanted in a police officer murder case, he said that Interpol issued a red notice against him to arrest and the work was on to capture him.

To another question whether police would face hardship to bring Arav back to Bangladesh after his arrest as he went to Dubai by using Indian passport, Al-Mamun said that they were discussing about the matter.
