BUP observes Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day

Dhaka: Today 21 February 2023 is Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) observed this day with dignity and pride to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue, says a press statement.
To mark the day, the national flag is kept at half-mast at the beginning of the day.
A delegation of BUP led by BUP Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain brought out a procession and placed floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Besides, a discussion session was organized by BUP Literature and Drama Club at Bijoy Auditorium of BUP highlighting the significance of the day. Respected Vice Chancellor of BUP Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam attended the discussion as the Chief Guest.
The chief guest in his speech paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their valuable lives for the cause of the Language Movement.
He mentioned that the Bengali language marks our existence, tradition, and identity. He specifically mentioned about the contribution of our father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in establishing the Bangla as our mother tongue.
Among others, BUP Pro-Vice Chancellor, BUP Senior Officials, Faculty Members, Officers and Students had attended the programme. Besides, many Faculty Members, Senior Officials and Students had also joined in the discussion virtually.
