Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General M Khurshid Hossain today said there is no specific threat of militant attack centering the Shaheed Dibas and International Mother Language Day on February 21.
"There is no specific threat. Intelligence agencies including RAB's intelligence agency didn't get any information of any terrorist attack. However, the RAB is ready to deal with any situation. Our surveillance will be continued," he said.
The RAB DG said while briefing to journalists after inspecting security arrangements at the Central Shaheed Minar here this afternoon.
Khurshid Hossain said foolproof security measures have been taken at the Central Shaheed Minar and adjoining areas.
Besides, RAB will ensure security measures at Shaheed Minars across the country, he said.
He said the RAB members in both plain clothed and uniforms will be deployed at all Shaheed Minars for ensuring security across the country.
At the Central Shaheed Minar, RAB-3 members will discharge duties in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, he said.
"We will sweep the Central Shaheed Minar area with dog squad. Bomb squad will also be deployed. Helicopters will also be ready for security purpose," the DG said.
Special arrangements will be ensured for safety of women and children who will come to pay their homage to Language Movement martyrs at the Shaheed Minar, he said, adding that the RAB will be vigilant so that women will not face any hazard including eve-teasing.
The RAB DG said strict monitoring system is being taken to prevent spread of propaganda, rumours and provocations on virtual platform.
Separate expert cyber monitoring teams have been engaged in monitoring all the time, he said.
