Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Marufa Hossain died of brain tumor last night.
She breathed her last around 9.30pm at Rajarbagh Police hospital while undergoing treatment. Marufa was 40, said a press release.
She left behind her husband and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Marufa Hossain.

In a condolence message, Mamun prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Marufa joined Bangladesh Police Service through 28th BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) in 2010. She was born in Netrokona in 1983.
Her namaz-e-janaza was held at Rajarbagh police auditorium at 10.30am.
