Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) has urged the gold retailers to keep accuracy in gold trading to avoid unnecessary harassment in business.

“If you say 21 carat, you have to pay for 21 carat. BAJUS will always be on the side of honest gold traders. BAJUS will take organisational action against any gold traders who are engaged in buying and selling stolen and adulterated gold,” Dewan Aminul Islam, vice-president of BAJUS, said at a view exchange meeting in Bagerhat on Saturday.

The gold traders condoled death of BAJUS vice president Anisur Rahman Dulal at the meeting.

In the speech, Dr Dewan said that BAJUS has been transformed into a strong organisation since Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir assumed presidency of the trade body.

“Country’s first gold refinery is being constructed by Bashundhara Group for the expansion of gold business in Bangladesh. When this factory starts, gold bars with Made in Bangladesh will be marketed. The gold of Bangladesh will be available at home and abroad,” he said.

BAJUS executive members Reponul Hasan and Pabitra Chandra Ghosh, Khulna divisional president Raqibul Islam Chowdhury, Bagerhat unit advisor Sanjoy Kumar Bakshi and general secretary Niloy Kumar Bhadra were also present at the meeting while district unit president Shyamal Kumar Sarkar chaired the session.

The central leader urged all gold retailers in Bagerhat for keeping unity to strengthen the sector’s footprint in the economy.
