Freedom Fighter Mehedi Reza, father of Daily Sun’s sub-editor Anonna Reza, died Wednesday morning. He was 70.

He breathed his last at his residence at the Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital around 8:00am.

Hailing from Magura, he was undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Dhaka.

Mehedi Reza, also father-in-law of Daily Sun Special Correspondent-cum-Online in-charge Firoz Al Mamun, had been suffering from old-age complications for last one and a half years.

He left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

The Daily Sun family is deeply shocked at the demise of Mehedi Reza.

Mehedi Reza took part in the Liberation War under Bangladesh Liberation Force (BLF) popularly known as the Mujib Bahini.

Magura District Administration and police members led by Magura DC Mohammed Abu Naser Beg gave him guard of honour on the premises of Magura Adarsha College at 5:00pm.

His first namaz-e-janaza was held there.

The body then was taken to his village home at Hazipur under Magura sadar.

He was buried at the central graveyard of the village at about 7:00pm after the second janaza at Hazipur Central Eidgah premises after Magrib prayers.
