Bashundhara Group stands by 3,000 cold-hit families in Dinajpur

Bashundhara Group started two-day programme to distribute warm clothes among 3,000 cold-hit families in 13 upazilas of Dinajpur.

As part of the humanitarian gesture, the largest business conglomerate distributed warm clothes in various places on Tuesday, the first day of the programme.

The northern district of Dinajpur is worst affected by the pinching cold triggered by the sloppy temperature from the Himalayan catchment.

Low-income people in the district are bearing the brunt of the shivering cold for not having protective gear.

In aid of poor and destitute, the Bashundhara Group came up with the blanket distribution.

The country’s largest business conglomerate distributed blankets on the premises of Saradeshwari Girls' High School in Dinajpur. It also sent blankets to the doorsteps of the elderly, sick and physically challenged people.

Shuvo Sangha, a social organisation of Bashundhara Group's Bengali daily Kaler Kantho, reached out to cold-battered destitute on behalf of the biggest corporate house.

The recipients of the warm blankets included the newspaper hawkers of the district.

Expressing satisfaction, they called upon other corporate bodies and affluent people to stand by the poor.

Shuvo Sangha director Jakaria Zaman, its district unit adviser and members were present at the blanket distribution event.
