Padma Bridge is symbol of country's pride: Anisul

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said Padma Bridge is a symbol of Bangladesh's dignity.

"The status of Bangladesh has increased all over the world due to the construction of this bridge," he said.

He said these while addressing a programme on the inauguration of the newly elected executive council of Dhaka Kasba Samity at the Osmani Memorial auditorium in the capital as the chief guest on Friday evening, a press release said here today.

The minister also distributed prizes among meritorious students at the event.

Freedom fighter and Law Minister Anisul Huq's mother late Jahanara Huq and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen were felicitated on the occasion.

Anisul said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is a people-friendly leader, has built the Padma bridge which is a symbol of the people of Bangladesh who can do something big with their own strength.

"Padma Bridge is a symbol to prove that we can do it and nothing is impossible for us," he added.

With Secretary of the Law and Justice Division under the law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry Md Golam Sarwar in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Kasba Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate Rashedul Kawsar Bhuiyan Jiban, Uttara Group Chairman Matiur Rahman Mintu and Engineer Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan.
