Sun shines over Buffalo in New York after blizzard claims over 40 lives

A monster storm killed dozens in the US over the Christmas weekend in New York's Buffalo. What is being called the 'Blizzard of the century', claimed over 40 lives in Buffalo.

Finally, the homes are beginning to warm after days without heat but the drivers are still claiming cars they have abandoned, India Today reported.

However, the number of deaths attributed to the winter storm rose to more than 50 after officials confirmed three more fatalities in western New York's Erie County, the epicenter of the crisis.

Several areas are covered in snow after the blizzard which compelled officials to send state and military police to keep people off Buffalo’s snow-choked roads.

Along with drifts and travel bans, many streets were impassible due to abandoned vehicles. The clean-up is currently underway after a blizzard hit four Western New York counties.

As per the reports, the massive storm dropped over 4 feet of snow in some places starting on Christmas Eve.

Several areas across the United States faced difficulties with commuting and power outages due to the blizzard.

US President Joe Biden announced federal disaster relief for New York state on Monday after a severe winter storm left people dead in Buffalo.
