Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh arranged a physical and mental healthcare and counselling programme for sheltered women domestic workers at the Safe House of the embassy.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary inaugurated the programme on last Monday.
He directed officials to assist women domestic workers staying in the Safe House so that they can recover their dues from their employers and return those promptly to their family members back home.
The ambassador also asked to ensure women workers’ overall welfare including quality accommodation, food, health care and entertainment during their temporary stay in Safe House.
Eminent Psychiatrist Habiba Hossain, also the wife of Ambassador Patwary, spoke at the inaugural function and counseled 22 women domestic workers. She listened to them and provided necessary suggestions and advices.
Dr Afroza Ahmed of Suncity’s Polyclinic in Riyadh provided treatment to women domestic workers. During this time, a total of 65 women domestic workers were provided with healthcare and necessary medicines.
The Bangladesh Embassy’s Labour Welfare Wing supervised the overall health service activities.
