Bangladesh, Nov 2022: In a bid to meet the surging demand for Decorative Paint and Waterproofing and construction chemicals in Bangladesh, Asian Paints, the 3rd largest Paint company in the world basis Market capitalisation, has set up a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar at Mirsarai, Chattogram. The new plant marks the second production facility of Asian Paints in the country.
Spread across 19.44 acres, the new plant has a manufacturing capacity of 25000 KL per annum for paints and allied products, and close to 10000 KL per annum for emulsions. In a strategic layout, the current capacity is expandable as per market demand upto 1,00,000 KL per annum for paints and allied products and close to 20000 KL per annum for emulsions. With the new production facility, Asian Paints will create more than 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Soon after the getting the commercial production commencement approval from the Government, the commercial production from new plant was started from 27th April 2022 onwards and production is being ramped up step by step in line with market demand growth. The inhouse emulsion manufactured from this plant has come up very well and turned around the complete operation by the cutting down the dependency on import in terms of time and cost to boost the economy of country as well as our operations.

A unique highlight of the new plant is that it is the first to commence operations in Mirsarai Economic Zone. In addition, the plant is built on a green belt covering 20% of the plot area and equipped with modern technology including DCS control, pneumatic powder conveying systems and inbuilt process safety equipment among others.
Asian Paints began its journey in Bangladesh in 2002 with the establishment of its first manufacturing plant in Gazipur. Today, the company is manufacturing and distributing a wide range of high- performing decorative paint, waterproofing chemicals, marine and industrial protective coating products to consumers across the country. As per available information, Asian Paints has become the 2nd largest paint company in Bangladesh with presence across all 64 districts and 1,400 plus supportive dealer network.
