20 gold bars recovered from mustard field in Jashore

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 20 gold bars from mustard field in Sharsha of Jashore on Monday.

Sensing presence of forces, smugglers fled the spot close to border leaving a bag of gold bars measuring 2.330kg.

Estimated value of the seized gold bars is Tk 2,17,85,500.

Lt Col Sahed Minhaz Siddiki, Commanding Officer of BGB-49 Battalion, confirmed the drive and recovery of the gold meant for smuggling.

Following an intelligence report, BGB men conducted raid in Narkelbaria border under Sharsha upazila, he added.

According to sources, an unidentified smuggler carrying the gold bag was waiting at mango garden of some Kalu Mia. Chased by the BGB, he ran away dropping the bag in a mustard field.
