Atomexpo-2022 international forum opens in Sochi on Monday

The Atomexpo-2022 international forum, a key event of the global nuclear industry, kicks off at the Sirus Park of Science and Art in Sochi on Monday with leading experts from more than 50 countries taking part.

As part of the two-day forum themed as `Nuclear Spring’, plenary sessions, roundtables and panel discussions will be held involving interested participants from around the globe to discuss the role the nuclear energy is playing in solving the tasks on the global nuclear agenda and the contribution of nuclear technology to achieving the UN Sustainable Developments Goals. The participants will also discuss green and blue economy strategies, the role of AI in nuclear energy, industry digitalization amid current challenges and a range of other pressing issues. The program of the forum includes some 40 events.

On the sidelines of the forum, international documents are expected to be signed - with Belarus, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nicaragua and Uzbekistan. In addition, the Rosatom state corporation should sign cooperation agreements with the government of Yakutia, HSE University, and a number of Russian research centers and companies.

Established in 2009, the Atomexpo international forum was held annually until 2019, when a decision was made to make it a biennale. However, the 2021 forum was never held over the pandemic of the coronavirus. The previous forum, Atomexpo-2019, was attended by more than 4,000 people from 74 countries, and over 40 cooperation agreements were signed.
