Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque requested the bloggers don’t write anything that hurts others’ religious sentiment.

IGP came up with the call while briefing journalists at Police Headquarters in the capital on Sunday.

“There is no problem in writing blog posts. But, don’t write anything that hurts others’ religious sentiment. Hurting religious sentiment is an offence,” he said.

Mentioning the attackers, he added that, “None will be spared who involved in killing the bloggers. Anyone can get legal assistance if any blog post hurts one's feelings. There is a provision of 14 years’ jail in the penal code for hurting religious sentiment.”

Regarding blogger Niloy murder, the police boss told journalists that investigation is on and law enforcing agencies are working to nab the killers using modern technology. The IGP is hopeful about arrest of the perpetrators.
