DSCC cleaner among two killed in city road accidents

Two people, including a DSCC cleaner, were killed in separate road accidents in Jatrabari and on Dhaka- Mawa highway on Thursday morning.

In Jatrabari, Dhaka South City Corporation’s (DSCC) cleaner Sekandar Ali, 50, of Gaibandha was killed after being hit by a truck.

Sub-Inspector Asaduzzaman of Jatrabari Police Station said the truck hit the victim when he was going to Staff Quarters on a rickshaw-van around 8:00am.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Another fish trader was killed and two others injured in a road accident in Kuicchamara bridge area on Dhaka-Mawa highway.

The deceased was identified as Rajib Miah, 45, of Munshiganj.

The accident took place at 7:30 am when they were going to Abdullahpur market after buying fish from Jatrabari fish market by a pickup.

Pedestrians rescued them and brought them to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctor declared Rajib dead at 9:30 am.

Confirming the news, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost Md Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The injured are being treated at the hospital is critical condition.
