Two remanded over gang-rape of beautician in Shukrabad

A Dhaka court placed two men on two-day remand each in a case lodged over alleged gang-rape of a beautician in capital's Shukrabad area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shuvra Chakraborty passed the order as police produced accused Md Riad, 24, and Yasin Hossain alias Siam, 23, before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand each.

Three accused Riad, Siam and their friend Jitu allegedly raped the victim, 25, on the evening of October 11 at Riad's Shukrabad flat. They took her there, by making a call through a female friend of them, posing as customer. The victim runs a Facebook page which offers home makeup services to ladies.

The rapists snatched her mobile phone and threatened her not to disclose anything to anyone. The victim, a five-month pregnant, fell sick later and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) One Stop Crisis Centre. Victim's husband later filed the case with Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
