Stop selling food wrapped in printed paper: BFSA

Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) directed to stop selling food in printed paper.

Terming food in printed paper,  harmful to human health, BSFA said it is punishable offense under the Food Safety Act, 2013.

As a result, it has been directed to sell food in safe food-grade container.

This notification was issued by Food Safety Authority on Friday.

According to the notification, now-a-days it has been noticed that hotels, restaurants, street food vendors are selling foods, including jhalmuri, fuchka, samocha, roll, singara, peyaju, jilapi and parota wrapped in newspapers and many other drafted papers. Dangerous colours and pigment are used on the papers.

Eating food with the paper, people may be affected with various diseases like cancer, heart disease, and kidney ailment.
