A person has been arrested with 30 gold bars for his apparent bid to smuggle those into India through Benapole’s Balunda area of Jashore.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a raid made the arrest and recovered the gold bars on Saturday.
He was carrying 30 gold bars weighing 3 kg 498 gram worth Tk 2.53 core.
Lt. Col. Tanvir Rahman, 21 BGB commander, confirmed the arrest of Ashikur and recovery of the gold.
Ashikur Rahman has been handed over to Benapole Police Station in connection with the gold smuggling.
In the last six months, 21 BGB recovered 17 kg 574 gram gold of which estimated value is Tk 12 core.
