Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan made NTMC Director General

Major General Ziaul Ahsan has been appointed as Director General (DG) of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) on Monday. 

In a gazette notification of the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday, Major General Ziaul Ahsan was entrusted with the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs and given this new responsibility. According to the notification, this order would come into effect immediately.

Major General Ziaul Ahsan was the director of NTMC till now.  Notably, he previously held important posts in Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the National Security Intelligence (NSI).

Ziaul Ahsan was promoted from Brigadier General to Major General in July. On July 21, a letter was sent to the Ministry of Public Administration to appoint Ziaul Ahsan as DG of the NTMC.

NTMC, a national-level intelligence agency of Bangladesh, is responsible for monitoring, collecting, and recording information and communication data. It is also responsible for the interception of electronic communication such as phone calls, emails, and social media accounts. NTMC plays a vital role in resisting militancy and preventing terror activities.
