Four journalists were injured following a criminal attack on them during discharge of professional duties in Lalmonirhat.

The injured are reporters Anisur Rahman of Jamuna TV, Abdur Rab of Prothom Alo, Mahfuzul Islam of Ekhon TV and cameraperson Ahsan Sakib of Jamuna TV.
Conditions of Anisur Rahman and Mahfuzul Islam were critical for sustaining deep injury in the forehead and hand respectively.
Besides, video camera, tripod and helmet were damaged.
According to the case dossier, the attack ensued as journalists went to the house of Azizur Rahman Mandal to know about his son’s elopement with and marriage to wife of another person in the area.
Saheb allegedly eloped with Loveli Begum, wife of Badrul Hasan of Sinduria village under Panchagram union, on August 7 night.
Loveli’s husband Badrul filed a general diary with Lalmonirhat sadar police station in this regard on August 9.
It may be noted that Saheb Mandal has two children with his first wife. Same is the case with Loveli.
As the journalists were leaving house of Saheb Mandal, 20-25 of his assigned cadres intercepted them and carried out attack.
