Three residential houses in Baidarapur village of Gabkhan Dhansiri union of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila were gutted by fire. The victims claimed that there was a loss of around Tk 10 lakh.

The fire incident took place around 11:00 pm on Friday.

According to fire service and local sources, there was no one in the tin house of local Ali Azim that night. The fire started from there. In moments, the flames engulfed adjacent house of Nazmul Howladar and Harun Howladar.

Locals informed Fire Service. However, the fire service vehicle could not reach the spot due to poor road connectivity. Later, the fire service personnel went by a van and brought the fire under control with the help of the locals.

Amena Begum, the wife of Nazmul Hossain, said, "We lost everything in the fire.”

Local UP member Abdur Rahim said, "The fire service vehicle could not come because the road was bad. If the vehicle arrived on time, the amount of damage would have been less. Three houses were burnt and there was a loss of Tk 10 lakh, he added.

Station Officer of Jhalkathi Fire Station Shafiful Islam said, “The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. Investigation is going on in this regard. Three houses were completely gutted in the fire, causing a loss of around 10 lakh rupees.”
