Pregnant mothers and their guardians of Ballamjhar Union under Sadar Upazila in the district are happy as the pregnant mothers of the union have started getting quality services for their normal delivery from the Union Sub Health Center(USHC) all day long.
Office sources said a number of unions including Ballamjhar of Sadar Upazila in the district were brought under the command areas of Expansion of Maternal Newborn Health-Family Planning Services in Rural Bangladesh in brief Mamota project.
The objective of the project is to ensure quality health care service for the pregnant mothers and the newborn of the project command areas through deploying additional health service providers under the project.
Like other USHCs Ballamjhar USHC was upgraded as 24/7 USHC in the month of July through a function that was attended by Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini as the chief guest.
To ensure the quality services for the pregnant mothers in the center experienced midwives were also appointed under the project.
Apart from it, other logistic supports including medicines were also ensured for the pregnant mothers under the project.
Meanwhile, a number of pregnant mothers of the union gave birth their babies in the center through normal delivery.
Shahida Begum, a mother who gave birth a male baby here taking the healthcare services from the staff of the center said, the dealing and behavior of the staff of the center during her delivery period was good.
She also would share the services of the center to other pregnant mothers so that their deliveries are done in the center, she cited.
Julfiker Rahman, chairman of the union parishad said he and his parishad members including the stakeholders of the union are so much active and careful to run the center peacefully.
Project coordinator Baharam Khan said he is always motivating the project staff of the center so that none could criticize negatively.
Md. Farooque Hossain, head of Save the Children, Gaibandha Field Office said they are in alert and vigil so that need base delivery services are ensured for the pregnant mothers in the center.
Deputy director of the DFP Saiful Islam told the BSS they were monitoring the activities of the project closely to attain the cherished goals of the project.
