The 47th death anniversary of Alhaj Abdus Sobhan (Advocate), father of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, will be observed on Tuesday.

Alhaj Abdus Sobhan, a renowned lawyer of the Supreme Court, died on August 9, 1975.

Born on January 21, 1901, Abdus Sobhan was a renowned social reformer, educationist and lawyer.

He contributed a lot to the social reforms.

Marking his death anniversary, Khatm-e-Quran and special prayers will be held at various mosques and madrasas across the country.  Besides, Khatm-e-Quran and special prayers will be held at Banani graveyard.

His life and contributions to social reforms will be recalled on the day.

Countrymen, relatives and well-wishers have been requested to pray for the salvation of the departed soul.
