Train journey likely to be costlier: Minister

Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon said railway fare is likely to be hiked following growing fuel price and bus fare.

“There is huge gap between fares of bus and train. The difference of fare will create serious impact on train service. We may need to adjust train fare. However, we are yet to take any decision in this regard,” he said.

Being a state-owned transport service, the train fare hike will require permission of the Prime Minister.

He made the indication after hike in bus fare caused by increasing fuel price.
