Three accused in a case filed over dacoity and rape in a running bus have submitted confessional statement before a court in Tangail on Saturday.
They are Raza Mia, son of late Harun-Ar-Rashid of Kalihati upazila under Tangail, Abdul Awal of Kanchanpur village of Kaliakair under Gazipur and Nurunnabi of Dhonarchar Paschimpara of Rowmari upazila under Kurigram.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shamsul Alam and Senior Judicial Magistrate Rumi Khatun of Tangail district court recorded the statements of the accused Saturday evening.
Court Inspector Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the confessional statements of the trio who was sent to jail afterwards.
According to case dossier, a bus of Eagle transport service left Kushtia for Narayanganj on August 2. During the journey, it made a stopover in front of a restaurant in Sirajganj around 11pm. As the bus started to move again, 10 dacoits divided into three groups boarded it from separate places. After crossing Bangabandhu bridge, the dacoits took control of the bus at gun point. The incident took place at Natiapara in Tangail around 1:30am. The dacoits forced driver to turn the bus towards Mymensingh road. They took away money, mobiles, ornaments and other valuables from passengers and raped a woman in the bus.
