Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler named Hasanuzzaman (22) along with 10 pieces of gold bars and a motorcycle from Benapole in Jashore.

He was arrested from Bhagarikha Mor area of Jamtala road in the upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The arrested Hasanuzzaman is the son of Mahbubur Rahman of Putkhali village under Benapole Port police station.

Tipped-off, a special patrolling team of Kayba BOP raided Bhagarikha Mor area of Tengra village under Sharsha police station. During the raid, Hasanuzzaman was arrested with 10 pieces of gold bars and a motorcycle. The estimated value of the recovered gold bars is Tk 84,50,000.

Mohammad Tanvir Rahman, director of Khulna 21 BGB battalion, said legal action is under process regarding the arrested person, gold bars and motorcycle.
