Construction work of cultural center of Santal Community begins in Gobindaganj

In order to preserve the traditional language and culture of the minority ethnic community (Santal community) and to achieve their cultural development, the construction work of the cultural center for the minority ethnic community was inaugurated today at Adampur of No. 2 Katabari Union of Gobindganj Upazila.

Construction work of a Cultural Center for the minority Ethnic Community (Santal community) began at Adampur, Santal inhabituated area under Katabari Union of Gobindaganj upazila in the district on Friday.

The objective of the construction of the cultural center is to preserve the traditional language and culture of the santal community, and to flourish their cultural development.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Oliur Rahman formally inaugurated the work of the cultural center through unveiling a plaque of the center in the afternoon as the chief guest and executive chief of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local reputed NGO, Abdus Salam was present at the event as the special guest while UNO Md. Arif Hossain presided over the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking at the function DC Oliur Rahman in his speeches said the center would play significant role to preserve the traditional language and culture of the santal community. Then, DC Oliur Rahman visited Adampur Dialogue Center run by GUK, activities of Begunbari Producer team and Adampur Mission and exchanged views with the men concerned elaborately.

Earlier, DC also distributed distributed dry food among 60 poor and helpless families of small ethnic groups of the area as the chief guest. Union parishad chairman, indigenous leaders, local elite and mass media men were present on the occasion.
