Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Bhanga police station Md Babul Hossain, main accused in a case filed for snatching 40 bhori of gold from a gold trader at gunpoint in Faridpur’s Bhanga upazila, admitted his involvement in the crime in remand.
Police arrested Babul Hossain, 35, on July 13 in this connection.
On Tuesday, the court placed Babul on one-day remand and asked police to interrogate Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Bhanga’s Hogladangi Sadardi area, at jail gate.
Gholam Muntasir Maruf, the investigating officer of the case, said that Babul has admitted his involvement in the gold snatching during interrogation in the remand. Later, he was sent to jail on Thursday afternoon.
Mentionable, some criminals snatched 40 bories of gold from gold trader Pappu Biswas, a resident of Kamthana village in Narail’s Lohagara upazila, when he was returning to his home after buying the precious metal from Bhanga Bazar of Faridpur on July 7.
Later, he filed a case with Bhanga police station accusing Babul Hossain and Mehedi Hasan.
Police arrested them and recovered the gold after filing of the case.
