Heroic freedom fighter and renowned sports organizer of the district Mohammad Alauddin Khan,74, died of old-age complications at Dhaka Medical College Hospital last night.
Alauddin Khan, who was the commander of the detective unit of freedom fighters in the Netrakona region during the Liberation War in 1971, left behind his one son and two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His namaz-e-janaza was held on the Netrakona Miftaulum Madrasha premises after Zohr prayers today.
The state minister for social welfare and freedom fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan and a large number of people, including freedom fighters, public
representatives, political leaders and civil society members attended the Janaza.
Earlier, a guard of honour was presented to the freedom fighter by a smart contingent of police on his house premises.
Later, he was laid to eternal rest at Netrakona municipality graveyard with state honour today.
