Foreign exchange reserves in Bangladesh has come down below $40 billion.   

The reserves came down after the Bangladesh Bank cleared the import payments to the Asian Clearing Union (ACU).

In the last week, Bangladesh Bank gave $1.99 billion to the ACU for import payments. As a result, the reserves declined to $39.80 billion on Tuesday for the first time in nearly two years.

 In December last year, the reserves stood at $46.15 billion.
