Declaration of July 5 Ayurved-Unani Day demanded

Demanding to declare July 5 as Ayurved-Unani Day, the experts said recognition of the alternative medicine nationally will play role in improving the country’s treatment facilities.

“We hope Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will declare the July 5 as national Ayurved-Unani Day formally. At the same time, I urge the government to recognize the Ayurvedic-Unani treatment nationally,” Dr Anisuzzaman, chairman of department of Philosophy of Dhaka University said.

Dr Anisuzzaman came up with the statement while speaking at a meeting arranged by Prachi, a volunteer organization at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital on Tuesday.

Mokhlesur Rahman, education and training affairs director of the Prachi presented the key-note speech at the programme. Jousnalist Sajib Sadik conducted it.

Bangladesh Board of Unani and Aurvedic system of medicine members Motaleb Motin, Kamruzzaman, Unani practitioner  Kalam Patwary, Nur Mazid Ayurvedic College principal Md Mamun and Unani practitioner Reeta Majumder spoke at the programme among others.

Claiming that declaring July 5 as the Ayurved-Unani Day is now matter of time, unani  practitioners also demand right of manufacturing the alternative medicine.

They also demanded the government to ensure no ayurvedic or unani practitioner will be victimim to harassment in any place of the country.
