Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has sent 900 kilograms of mangoes as gift for Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The mangoes of famous variety Amrapali were handed over to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday (July 5) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei.
This special consignment arrives from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh at a critical juncture when on June 25, Bangladesh Prime Minister inaugurated the 'Padma Bridge' and when the celebration of the 76th Birthday of His Majesty is around the corner, on July 15. This bodes well for the bright future of the bilateral relations between these two friendly Asian nations.
Bangladesh High Commissioner Nahida Rahman Shumona said that this was a cordial and friendly gesture by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina who made an official visit to Brunei Darussalam on April 21-23 in 2019.
She further added that mangoes are produced in large quantities in Bangladesh, and therefore people of Bangladesh love to eat mangos in the same way Bruneian people like it.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has chosen the special type of mango called ‘Amrapali’ for His Majesty. She hoped that His Majesty will appreciate the taste and flavour of the mangoes.
