The Dhamrai Rathyatra is about 400 years old.  It runs 500m from the Madhabbari Temple to the Gope Nagar Temple. The tradition was kept alive by the Kumudini Trust of the Saha family since 1950s.

The Rath was destroyed by occupation forces in 1971, but finally rebuilt with support from India 12 years ago. 

This year's magnificent event, the first since Covid, was attended by State Minister for Planning,  MPs, Mayor, and Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami.

The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Russian Embassy in Dhaka also attended the event.
