Many political parties have emerged in the world in response to the demands of time. However, what the Awami League of Bangladesh has done in the history, tradition and needs of the nation is a unique example in the whole world. ‘Bangabandhu-Awami League-Swadhinata’-these three words are immortal and indestructible.

The Bangladesh Awami League, a political party of the land and the people, has been making a unique contribution to the formation of the country, sometimes in the opposition and sometimes in the government. Language movement, mass movement, freedom movement, war of independence - Awami League is one name in the pages of history of emergence of independent and sovereign Bangladesh. Bangabandhu's Awami League has shown leadership at all levels. The sacrificial and fighting role of the leaders and activists of this party is historical.

Naturally, people have high expectations from the Awami League, the creator of the nation-state Bangladesh. The month of June is linked to the receipt book at different times from formation of Awami League till date. This time, the whole world is going to witness another history in this June and the history has been a mixture of passion and love. That is, the dreamt Padma Bridge will be inaugurated by Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on June 25.

This bridge is not just a bridge, our self-esteem is embedded in this installation. By constructing the Padma bridge with own funds, Bangabandhu's daughter has shown that Bengalis cannot be kept under any barrier.

The Awami League was established in the month of June. Bengali nationalism, democracy, socialism, secularism and freedom of all religions and non-communal politics are based on the principles of Bangladesh Awami League.

The 'East Pakistan Awami Muslim League' was established on June 23, 1949 at the Rose Garden Palace at KM Das Lane Road in Tikatuli of Dhaka through a conference of a section of the then Bengal Provincial Muslim League led by Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy and Abul Hashem. Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani of Tangail and Shamsul Haque of Tangail were made its president and general secretary respectively.

Subsequently, the word 'Muslim' was dropped from the name of the party in 1955 at the initiative of Maulana Bhasani to promote secularism and establish a non-communal spirit. The party was renamed as 'East Pakistan Awami League'. After independence, the party adopted the name 'Bangladesh Awami League'.

Not under the patronage of any imperialist British or in the hands of zamindars-landlords, nor under the patronage of the military junta or the honeycomb of power, not even at gunpoint of illegal occupiers of power; the Awami League was born on the soil of Bengal, and through the struggle. The expansion of Awami League is in the hands of Sheikh Mujib, the greatest man of all time. Awami League is the link between Bengal and Bengalis.

The party has been led by Shaheed Suhrawardy, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, Maulana Abdur Rashid Tarkbagish, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Abul Hasnat Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, Mohiuddin Ahmed (Acting), Syeda Johra Tajuddin, Abdul Malek Ukil and Bangabandhu's Daughter Sheikh Hasina (since 17 May 1981 to till now).

The Awami League, the traditional political party of Bangladesh, was formed for the liberation and realisation of the rights of the people of Bengal.

The seeds of the Bengalis' cherished dream of freedom of struggle were sown with the birth of the party at Rose Garden in old Dhaka. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as the President of the Awami League, created the mindset of the Bengalis for the independence by declaring the 6-point Charter of Liberation of Bengalis. In the 1970 elections, Bangabandhu participated in the elections on behalf of the Awami League and the Awami League won.

In this context, the non-cooperation movement and later the freedom struggle, declaration of independence, war of independence and independence of Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu. That is why, the name of Bangladesh Awami League is associated with all the achievements of Bangladesh today. Bangabandhu has given us freedom. And now, his worthy daughter Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working tirelessly for achieving the goal of economic liberation. Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world today through lots of achievements.

Now come success stories of Sheikh Hasina. These achievements include mega projects Padma Bridge, Bangabandhu Satellite-1, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Maheshkhali Matarbari, Payra Deep Sea Port, Dhaka Metrorail, Elevator Expressway and Karnaphuli Tunnel.

The Prime Minister's wise leadership, long-term planning, achievement of MDGs, implementation of SDGs, education, health, gender equality, agriculture, poverty reduction, average life expectancy, export oriented industrialisation, 100 special economic zones, garment industry, pharmaceutical industry, significant growth in export earnings which has changed the country's economy. All these have been possible due to Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina's unyielding mentality and magical leadership.

When the World Bank cancelled Padma Bridge funding, she proved that the Bengali nation is indomitable by building the bridge with own funds. Did anyone even think of self-financed bridge? Because there is a Sheikh Hasina, today Bengalis are dreaming about big and taking bold decisions.

Today, Bangladesh has come under 100% electricity. Not a single house is without light. In the international arena too, Bangladesh is now seen with dignity. The way Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handled the Rohingya problem and the Corona pandemic is acclaimed internationally. Today, she is known in the world as the leader of humanity.

Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina has been in power for more than a decade. However, the way she has taken Bangladesh to the current position was not smooth at all. In that thorny path she has moved forward and succeeded in showing strong and courageous leadership.

Inshallah, the dream of building a developed Bangladesh by 2041 will be realised with the help of Awami League under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina. This achievement will come at the hands of Bangladesh Awami League because the party is symbol of all achievement of Bengalis.
